Your resume First, when sending your resume electronically (such as by email) use only common fonts, and save in .rtf format. Otherwise, the recipient might not be able to open your resume. Or worse, it might look terrible and reflect poorly on you. Safe fonts include Times, Times New Roman, Arial, and Sans-Serif. The first step when writing a resume is to make a list of accomplishments. Accomplishments might begin with phrases such as: Selected to/for, completed, achieved, chosen, described as, contributed to, and so forth. Everyone has a bigger list of accomplishments than they realize. Next find ways to accrue, or add things up. For example, one mother described her teenager as having "over 100,000 hours dramatic experience. (She dramatizes everything!)" That wouldn't go on your resume, but you see how things can be added up. For example, what are the TOTAL classroom, rehearsal, performance and study hours you have put into acting, modeling and drama? (We'll add more to this page when we assign resume homework in class.)
